youtubecomedycentralComedy Central has issued a DMCA takedown notice to YouTube, according to Mashable.

According to Newscloud, the site that first broke the news, short clips are likely to remain because they satisfy the ‘fair use’ requirement.

Mashable contrasts Comedy Central’s request with CBS’s new ‘CBS Channel’ on YouTube. But to be fair, the CBS Channel only offers short clips as well, in a tightly-controlled CBS experience.

It’s hard to imagine Comedy Central simply letting go of its content, which would be the case if it allowed anyone and everyone to post it to YouTube and elsewhere. As with Motherload, we’re likely to see only short clips, and those clips will remain under Comedy Central’s control…or else.

Meanwhile, I’m waiting for some clever youngster to figure out a way to string all of the short ‘fair use’ clips together so that people can still watch full episodes. I have no doubt that this is coming.
