comedian Pete Cashmore at Mashable informs us that YouTube has launched a special service for comedians. Like its YouTube Musician accounts, Comedian accounts let comedians add information about their shows, images of their performances and more.

This follows similar actions by MySpace. As we’ve already reported, comedy and music are naturals for Web 2.0 TV: they’re light, can be served up in small doses, and don’t require much thought to follow. They’re also very viral - people will forward them to friends.

At this point Web 2.0 is ready for a Comedian Channel, a single site dedicated to aggregating and serving the videos of many comedians in customizable playlists. YouTube Comedy is a start. While some comedians may want to be the stars of their own shows, they should see the advantage in being part of an easily-found, easily talked-about comedy site.
